Toyota just gave the Urban Cruiser Hyryder a solid refresh for 2025. It now comes with a new automatic all-wheel-drive option, added features across the board, and improved safety. Prices now start at Rs 11.34 lakh, which is about Rs 20,000 more than the earlier version.
What’s New: 6-Speed Automatic AWD
The big update is the introduction of a 6-speed automatic transmission with the V AWD variant. It replaces the older 5-speed manual setup. This move makes the AWD version feel more premium and driver-friendly, especially for city traffic or long highway runs.
If you still prefer a manual AWD, your option is the Maruti Grand Vitara Alpha variant—basically the same under the hood but priced slightly lower.
Fresh Features Across Variants
Toyota’s added some nice upgrades, especially in the higher trims. Here’s what stands out:
Ventilated front seats for added comfort
Ambient lighting to set the mood
8-way power adjustable driver’s seat
Rear-door sunshades for backseat passengers
AQI monitor on select variants
Across the entire range, there are also new standard features:
USB Type-C charging ports
Six airbags (front, side, and curtain) now standard on all variants
Tyre pressure monitoring system (except for the base E trim)
Electronic parking brake available in some automatic variants

Same Engines, Still Efficient
The engine lineup stays the same, but that’s not a bad thing—Toyota’s keeping what works:
Mild-Hybrid Petrol
1.5L Maruti-sourced engine
Power: 103.06 PS
Torque: 136.8 Nm
Gearbox: 5MT or 6AT for 2WD; 6AT only for AWD
Best fuel economy: 21.11 km/l (2WD manual)
Petrol + CNG
Same engine with a CNG option
Fuel efficiency: 26.6 km/kg
Strong Hybrid
Toyota’s 1.5L petrol engine + electric motor
Combined output: 115.56 PS
Transmission: e-CVT
Fuel efficiency: 27.97 km/l
Why It Matters
Toyota’s clearly trying to make the Hyryder more appealing with smarter features and a smoother drive. While it still trails the Maruti Grand Vitara in sales—thanks to Maruti’s wider network and lower pricing—this update could help narrow the gap. The new 6AT AWD might be just what some buyers were waiting for.
