2025 Hero Xoom 125 Review: A Sporty Scooter with a Punch

Hero Xoom 125 is Hero MotoCorp’s first move into the sporty 125cc scooter space. To compete with TVS Ntorq, Honda Dio 125, and Suzuki Burgman Street, the Xoom 125 provides a new perspective on style, features, and performance. Does it, however, deliver what it promises? Let us discover.

Design & Build Quality

The Hero Xoom 125 has a sporty but friendly design, with a falcon inspiration. The twin LED headlamp configuration with LED DRLs integrated provides it with an aggressive look. In the rear, twin LED taillamps add to its beauty. Matte Storm Grey, Inferno Red, Metallic Turbo Blue, and Matte Neon Lime are the colors that the scooter comes in and is sure to turn heads.

But build quality is still a worry. The plastic panels creak, and panel gaps vary. Although switchgear and handlebar plastics are good, they don’t live up to the premium touch of some rivals.

Features & Technology

Hero has loaded the Xoom 125 with a series of contemporary features:

• Negative LCD Instrument Cluster with Bluetooth connectivity for call and text notifications.

• Turn-by-turn navigation, though readability under sunlight could be improved.

USB charging port within the front glovebox for extra convenience.

• External fuel-lid opener and a boot lamp.

• Hero’s i3S start/stop technology for improved fuel efficiency.

• First-in-segment sequential LED turn indicators.

• Underseat storage (17L), big enough for a half-face helmet.

Ride & Handling

The Xoom 125 comes with a plush ride, thanks to its soft suspension setup:

• 37mm telescopic forks at the front.

• Off-set monoshock at the rear.

• 14-inch alloy wheels, biggest in the segment, for better stability.

Seat height of 777mm, which makes it easily accessible for the majority of riders.

Taller riders may find the space at the footboard insufficient. The soft suspension handles bumps easily but has trouble with bigger potholes, which makes the ride a bit bouncy.

Performance & Mileage

Equipped with a 124.6cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine, the Xoom 125 delivers:

• 9.8 bhp @ 7,250 rpm

• 10.4 Nm @ 6,000 rpm

• CVT transmission for smooth acceleration.

While the engine is smooth and free of vibrations, it does not have the punch that a sporting scooter would expect. Throttle response is linear and misses out on the TVS Ntorq’s rush. On urban commuting, fuel efficiency was approximately 40-45 kmpl, and the bike is pretty decent on costs.

Pricing & Verdict

Hero Xoom 125 comes in two trims:

• VX – Rs 86,900

• ZX – Rs 96,900

In comparison with the Hero Destini 125 (Rs 80,463 – Rs 90,313), the difference in performance is negligible, which makes the Destini the more value-for-money choice. Nevertheless, the Xoom 125 is aimed at young riders seeking a fashionable, feature-laden scooter.

Smooth riding quality
Biggest wheels in the segment for stability

Disadvantages:

Build quality is mediocre
Performance is unexciting
Footboard space is cramped for taller riders

Final Thoughts

The Hero Xoom 125 is a feature-laden, well-designed scooter that provides comfort and convenience for city commuters. Its poor performance and mediocre build quality may not be worth the money for some. If style and features are important to you, the Xoom 125 is a good option. But if performance is most important, there are better choices like TVS Ntorq 125.
